OUR CORE BELIEFS

The following are the core beliefs of TCA, based on the foundational truths taught in the bible.  All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in these biblical doctrines.

God

We understand that God is indivisibly, inseparably, forever One. The God whose Spirit moved upon the face of the waters in Genesis 1:2 is the same God who met Moses on Mt Sinai, who spoke so regally through His prophet Isaiah, who overshadowed Mary to miraculously conceive His Son, who dwells in His children today, who will return soon to establish His kingdom on earth.

Sin

Sin is the inherent condition of human nature (Romans 3:23). Defined, sin is “missing the mark”. That’s what we do when we live life by our own ideas, without acknowledgement of God and His Word. We are designed by our Creator to live communication with Him, and to experience the fulfillment of realizing our true destiny. When we do it our way, we “miss the mark”, and sin takes its tragic toll.

Salvation

Salvation from the present curse of sin, and the future horror of Hell, is available through Jesus Christ alone. It is He who gave His life on Calvary long ago so each person living could have the opportunity to have our broken inner nature healed and set free from the bondage of inherited sin.

Water Baptism

The apostle Peter called baptism “the answer of a good conscience toward God” (1 Peter 3:21). Paul called it “the circumcision made without hands” (Colossians 2:11). Each of them understood that baptism was a command by the Lord to be done in His name, Jesus. By this act of faith, forgiveness of sins is completed.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, also referred to as the “Holy Ghost” and “Christ in you”, is the Spirit of God that has been active amongst mankind since the beginning of time, and continues today. Those terms refer to the presence of God with us, and within us (John 14:17). By having His Spirit within us, God gives us His power to be living witnesses of His amazing grace and mercy in this world (Acts 1:8).

The Church

The church is the reason Jesus came (Matthew 16:18). He had in mind birthing a new kind of people as a result of His death, burial and resurrection. They would be a people redeemed from their former way of living in sin. They would be a joyous people, a people who celebrate with exuberance their new life in Christ. His church would be identified by their experience, not by their denomination.

Resurrection

Jesus came out of His tomb on the third day following his crucifixion. He set the pattern for us all (1 Corinthians 15:20-23). Thus, we understand that death is not the termination of life. When we die in Christ, our physical death is really a transition from this level of living to the next – truly eternal life. There are two resurrections, we want to be included in the “resurrection to life” (John 5:29)!
